本專業旨在培養適應我國基礎教育改革與發展需要，培養具有良好職業道德、熱愛中小學教育事業及幼教事業、具有扎實的英語語言基礎，較強的英語語言運用能力和較廣泛的科學文化知識，并具有一定的外語教學理論和較強的教學能力，具有實施素質教育和開展教育教學改革與研究的意識和能力，具有強烈的社會責任感和創新精神，能夠勝任小學、幼兒園教學與管理的人才。
In order to meet the development of the reform and development of Chinese basic education, this major is designed to cultivate the talents who hold positive professional ethnics; love primary and secondary educational career; possess sold English foundation, accumulate stronger English skills and extensive knowledge; learn about foreign language teaching theories; have ability and awareness of carrying out quality-oriented education and teaching reform; show strong sense of social responsibility and innovation spirit; and are capable of primary as well as kindergarten teaching.

本專業吸納了中英雙方高校的課程，一律采用英國原版教材，主要課程包括語音與語言學、英語發展史、語法詞匯、英語教學法等課程。
By incorporating the courses of Chinese and British universities, this major applies the original British textbooks, which covers Phonetics & Linguistics, History of English Development, Grammar and Vocabulary, English Teaching Methods, etc.

英語教育專業的畢業生主要工作范圍包括但不限于幼兒園、小學、初中及英語培訓機構的教學工作；政府部門、公司企業、社會團體的翻譯工作；教育管理工作，甚至到國外工作。
This course offers graduates a wide range of occupation options, including but not limited to the teacher in kindergarten, primary or secondary school, or English training institutions; translator for the government, corporations, or social community; teaching manager,or even overseas working opportunities.
